Since we already have a PC build (which is mainly reserved for desktops), I'm curious to see which of us actually play games on our laptops. So let's post our builds.

For now, I'm rocking an HP DV6-7000 with the following specs (because I'm a poor student who doesn't have a choice but to use a laptop)

CPU: Intel i5-3210m Dual Core at 2.5ghz
    GPU: 2GB NVIDIA GT650M
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
    RAM: 8GB
    HDD: 750GB
    Display: 15 inch 1366x768 display

That's all I remember about my laptop. For the most part, at least I can play some games on it so I'm happy with the build.

My laptop is more of a pirate ship instead of a gaming computer.
    As for specs: all crappy.

Originally worked my ass off to afford it, added up to nearly three grand. Despite certain opinions about Apple, the purchase was very well worth it and made me realize how horrible Windows really is. Needed it for school was a very true excuse, but let's just say I didn't need an i7 for Keynote. It's my primary computer for everything now, at least until my MacPro comes in which I posted in the other computer specs thread.
Wish the video card was a bit better, but I can't complain. I always have five thousand windows and applications open, and it's never given me the slightest hint of trouble. In-fact even in gaming, the only time it taps out are when the latest newer games are set up to Maximum.

He has a crazy expensive iMac too. But considering what he does, I say he really does need it.

Should of gotten a hackintosh. Building a hackintosh isn't that hard. With the budget he had for his Mac he could have built a significantly better hackintosh, gotten a hackintosh-able laptop, and had spending money left over. xD

Oh god, you have no idea the size of lecture @Sir Lemoncakes gave me about this. He even went out of his way to build a custom PC in the same budget. I was a bit hesitant to argue with him since he's my Admin, but a really good, long conversation came out of it and I'm glad we did it. As I told him, I'll stick with my Mac Pro. Hackintoshs are bleh, and I need Macintosh. Not to mention that it's not like there's anything out there it can't do anyways, at least not for several more years.

Hackintosh's are custom computers built with parts Apple uses in their computers(but much cheaper price-wise for us) and then load OSX onto. If you do it right, you can even get and maintain the latest version. They're still OSX and they still perform the same, if not better. I can also load OSX onto my Microsoft Surface Pro I bought for $450. The Surface Pro has an i5 and an HD4000. Comparable to your MacBook Pro aside from the HD space, a step down for the processor speed(and threads), and of course the screen isn't as large.

I fully support Apple's iPhone and iPod product lines, they don't amp up the price terribly and the fine tuning of the OS helps it. But their Macintosh's are just way to overpriced.

I know you don't like to hear this sort of stuff. Don't want buyer's remorse xD. In 5 or so years when it's time to replace your computers you should totally consider the hackintosh route.

A good bit of studio oriented software is OSX only.

Nice, mine's early 2013. We bought it about half way into the year, but I guess it was just before the new model came out.
