    Original Post: http://www.seriousttt.com/threads/map-im-working-on-ttt_trainyard-need-opinions.17544/

A while back, I started work on a map set in a trainyard/industrial area. I've made some progress, and would like opinions on what should be done/changed/added/removed.

Some progress has been made here. A small walkway area has been added along the side of the tracks, with a Combine console (to be a traitor trap, haven't decided on what though)

Area behind the tracks, the red and yellow shed can be used as a reference point. I've started to create a maintenance tunnel section that runs under the map, but I'm still pondering whether that's a good idea or not. Before anyone asks, yes the toxic pools hurt you at 15 health every 0.5 seconds. Enough to convince players not to touch it, but low enough for players to have time to get out if they fall in. You'll be able to get on the metal awning and rooftop through the walkway by the train complex (top left) and a ladder on the dumpster by the blue rooftop (slightly visible)

The train complex. I've made it fully brick rather than industrial metal, as it looked cheap and ugly, and didn't really match together. A proper catwalk has also been added. The one closest to the train can be reached by the walkway outside the complex, and the one nearest where the picture was taken can be climbed onto by a ladder in the complex (barely visible). I'm planning to add a traitor trap that calls a Combine train to travel on the empty tracks, destroying anything (or anyone) unlucky to be in its path.

Again, let me know what you think, any thoughts or suggestions you have on it.

Love your work Hank! I really feel like this is coming along nicely.

I feel that a maintenance tunnel could work very well, as it will add an additional layer to the environment and for players to access. Having a variable like that means the player will be able to separate off and give chances for the Traitors to get silent kills; hopefully.

Another thing I was looking for, was the possibility of a Traitor room, do you have one in mind..? If not that's all good, but I also think it could be pretty awesome to include! Maybe if you did add it (or have already but I'm blind and can't see it) it could be the security/staff office inside one of the buildings you have.

On that note, are the buildings (other than the one with the trains inside it) accessible? Do you feel it would be large enough for up to 36 players, or do you think it will be for lesser numbers?

Really great work man, when you polish it up a bit more I'll definitely have a play-test with it!

There should be enough room to fit 36 players. When the map is playable and has been tested, I'll make the map larger or smaller, whichever needs to be done to accommodate 36 people.

I have removed the maintenance tunnel section. I felt as if they would be too cramped and players would end up getting stuck on each other and get frustrated. I also couldn't see how to make it high enough quality, which is a must for my maps. You can't just throw some walls, floors, and props around, publish it, and call it a "map". That seems to be a pretty big problem for the GMod community. Take 67th Way for example. The basic layout of the map is there, and that's about it. That map needs a serious graphical update.

I do not believe I will be able to house a traitor room in the map. I intend for this map to be as logical as possible. I've never heard of secret rooms in trainyards that have explosives wired through them, have you? I know, I'm kind of annoying that way, but if something is illogical, it REALLY gets to me.

Well thank it looks awesome but it would make sense for a t room because think there are Terrorists Think about it they should have a room wired with explosives cause they are gonna blow something up just think in the headlines

Terrorists destroy trainyard and multiple cargo trains. see page A4 for more details

    Now doesn't that make sense?

Show us gameplay of it. Put it on the workshop so we can test it out. Constructive criticism.

It's nowhere near playable yet. When it is, I'll plan to privately host a server with the map running and give certain players the password to it.
