EA has shut down Maxis Emeryville, the creators of darkspore, spore, and the oldest running EA studio. Certain parts will merge with other studios but otherwise it is dead. Gone.
It's sad to see them go but it was to be expected. Their latest games were lackluster to say the least. Even still, some people lost their jobs which is always saddening.
