Disclaimer: This is not to bring up aany bad feelings. OK so a few days ago I saw an admin get karma banned. There already was a mod on as well. The mod was told by the admin to unban the said admin. The admin then as far as I know was not rebanned. My question is a)should the admin be able to do this because a normal player even if they made a ban appeal would have to wait the hour ban. b) should the said admin reban them self for the hour ban?
Well yes Because said admin needs to staff it's not his fault if innocs do t acts if it's a normal player they can wait so it's like saying o hey only 1 staff on oops he got karma banned i guess no staff on rdm time for rdmers.
Admins have discretion they can use to preform certain actions. I.E, unbanning people who were Karma banned. For the best interest of the server, The Law had himself unbanned so it could be staffed. However, this is not limited to staff. If an admin sees somebody unjustfully Karma banned, they can unban them if they so wish.
Karma is there as a preventative measure for when no staff are on, and a gentle reminder to be careful. Admins will even reset karma while on the server occasionally. Sometimes people who get karma banned will stay banned, sometimes they'll get unbanned. It all depends on why they got karma banned. If they're intentionally killing players for any legitimate reason they can find, they may have to sit through it. If they're getting t-baited or even having people attempt to RDM them all map long, they may get unbanned sooner than later. And as the others said, would you rather the server be staffed or unstaffed in the event the mod had to get off?
As an administrator, we are asked to monitor our team (and the moderators as a whole) and staff servers. This is our responsibility and job to uphold as STTT Administrators. Being banned, including karma banned, restrains us from doing our job and ensuring that our team and servers are running well. As such, we are given the power to reset karma for ourselves and for the lobby and the power to unban players who are unjustly karma banned (i.e. unfortunately killing RDMers; not "They all entered the T Room with me and thus committed a traitorous act though I knew they were all innocents"). In short, banned staff restricts them from being able to fulfill their responsibilities.
Again, this would restrict him from fulfilling his duty as an administrator. Rebanning himself wouldn't solve anything; just a waste of time.
